Yazda is happy to announce the arrival of Ms. Amber Webb, who will succeed Matthew Barber as Country Director. Amber brings strong leadership and management skills, having administered programs for the U.S. government at the Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, and in the non-profit sector at the American Councils for International Education. She also has an extensive research background relevant to Yazda’s work. She is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Maryland, focusing on youth empowerment in emergency contexts, and has worked as a researcher at the U.S. Institute of Peace. Amber was also a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer in Ukraine.
Yazda would like to wish Amber all the best in her new leadership role here in Iraq, where she will serve for one year. We are confident that she will further empower individuals in the organization to support Yazidis in a variety of ways, and that she will be a strong advocate for the Yazidi community.
