Yazda executive director, Murad Ismael, met separately at the White House with United States deputy chief of staff John Flaming and senior administration officials. In the two meetings, the discussions focused on the situation of Yazidis and other religious minorities in Iraq and Syria.
In a separate meeting with Bob Destro, Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor, the same issues were raised. The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom “USCIRF” Vice-Chair Nadine Maenza participated in the meetings.
Yazda will continue to engage with international and local actors in Iraq and Syria with respect to long and short-term security for Yazidis and other minorities with the aim to ensure full accountability, justice, and ultimately full recovery from the Genocide.
