Yazda met an Advisor to the Iraqi Prime Minister for Reconciliation today

A delegation from Yazda and the Yazidi Cultural Forum in Baghdad met today with Mr. Mohammed Salman Al-Saadi, an Advisor to the Iraqi Prime Minister for Reconciliation, and Ms. Boshra Al-Obaidi, former Commissioner of the High Commission for Human Rights in Iraq.

The two sides discussed the situation in Sinjar and Nineveh plain in terms of administration, security and basic services, in the light of the recent developments. Mr. Al-Saadi expressed his symphony and interest in the Yezidi cause and stressed that the equal rights of all citizens under the Iraqi Constitution, preserving the dignity and rights of all components in Iraq, including the Yazidi component. The delegation called for a strategic consideration of the Yazidi cause because the Yazidis were subject to major crimes. The delegation stressed the importance for the Yazidis to manage their areas and provide their own security or self-protect. The two sides also discussed the reconstruction efforts in Yazidi and minorities areas in Sinjar, Nineveh Plain, and compensation for families. Highlighted also, the importance of restoring the necessary services of water, electricity and health at the earliest opportunity. The delegation also requested that the government to put more efforts to rescue Yazidi children and women who have been captured by ISIS and have not yet been liberated. The delegation has requested the government to issue a statement on criminalization in case of retention
